From our humble beginning in the Tacoma, Washington, home kitchen of Frank Mars, to the global company of today, Mars has always taken great pride in our high standards and iconic products.

We’ve been a family-owned company for nearly a century, and stand behind our products – some of the most famous chocolate brands in the world:

  • The MILKY WAY® bar was Mars' first candy bar, created in 1923.
  • SNICKERS® – invented in 1930 - is the most popular chocolate bar in the world today.
  • M&M’S® have been among the world’s favorite candy snacks since 1941, when they were introduced to American GIs serving in WWII.
  • DOVE® chocolate is available in more than 30 countries worldwide.

New Products
From our old favorite brands, we’ve enhanced our portfolio of popular products to create a range of options for consumers to consider. With these new options we aim to satisfy diverse bodies of healthy and active lifestyles.

    Lower Calorie Options
    New products including MARATHON® SMART STUFF™ Bars, M&M’s® Pretzel Chocolate Candies (150 Cal.), 3 MUSKETEERS® Truffle Crisp (170 Cal.), M&M’S® Coconut Chocolate Candies (210 Cal.) and M&M’S® Snack Mix contain wholesome ingredients like peanuts, pretzels, blueberries, almonds, coconut and raisins. Most also contain the iconic and well-known products such as M&M’S®.
    We have also reduced the calorie and saturated fat contents of existing popular products such as our TWIX® Cookie Bars® (from 11 grams/serving to 9 grams/serving) so consumers can enjoy products that they know and love in new ways.
    250 Calorie Commitment
    In order to encourage the responsible consumption of our products, we made a commitment to reduce all Mars chocolate products globally to 250 calories per portion by the end of 2013. We stopped marketing oversized portions and now, our larger portion products are available re-sealable packaging with 2ToGo and twist-wrap formats for brands such as SNICKERS® to allow the product to be shared or consumed over time, rather than in one sitting.
    In 2010, we solidified a multi-year plan to making 250-calorie portion sizes in our continued effort to provide our consumers with a variety of products that can be consumed responsibly and we are on schedule to meet our 250 calorie limit globally by the end of 2013.

    In addition to a new take on popular products, we have also expanded the brand portfolio to include products that provide added consumer benefits. Our goodnessknows® Luscious Snacksquares are made from cocoa beans specifically selected and handled to retain flavanols, which support the healthy circulation of nutrients. This gratifying snack comes in three lusciously delicious tastes including very cranberry, nutty apple and peachy cherry with tangy fruits, crunchy nuts and extraordinary deep chocolate delivering the goodness from food and make people feel good about snacking.
